Sergio brings more than 20 years of experience in some of the most demanding environments in the industry, including security deployments at O’Hare and Midway International Airports. He later led a professional services team at Genetec, working directly with enterprise clients including Meta, Genentech, the City of Chicago, and King County Metro Transit. In these roles, he supported large-scale deployments across access control, video management, and complex system integrations.
As Research Operations Manager at ZBeta, Sergio leads the Innovation Lab, where emerging physical security technologies are evaluated and validated before reaching clients. His work spans hands-on systems engineering, structured testing, and applied research, translating technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations that shape both client solutions and internal standards. Sergio’s perspective is shaped by experience in the field and alongside enterprise teams navigating real-world deployments. He understands how systems perform in practice and the operational impact behind the technology. This approach allows the lab to move beyond spec sheets and benchmarks, delivering insights grounded in real conditions.
Outside of work, Sergio enjoys road trips and outdoor adventures with his family. A Marine Corps veteran, he is an active contributor to his local American Legion post, where he helped develop an AI-powered tool to assist veterans in understanding their educational benefits. He is also building a nonprofit focused on addressing food insecurity in his community.
